The fresh-smelling woodland air and the beautiful clean water of Bennett Lake lures kayakers, paddleboarders, swimmers, and fishermen, too.
Bennett Lake offers a leisurely, peaceful paddle. Kayakers can launch from a short hill alongside the road or carry the kayaks and paddleboards from the parking lot to the lake. Boat rentals are available.
Mostly surrounded by forest, the lake’s clear water provides kayakers with views of tadpoles and schools of fish swimming nearby. Watch for loons diving for their lunch. Bring a fishing rod and catch some fish, too. From Victoria Day weekend in May until mid-September, the lake is open to trout fishing. Within Fundy National Park, the only water open to fishing is at Bennett and Wolfe lakes. You’ll need a national park fishing license, which can be purchased at Bennett Lake or the park’s visitor center.
There’s a small beach for swimming, and a portion of the lake is roped off for swimmers. Kayakers can easily pull in on the other side of the rope, get out, and enjoy a picnic lunch just steps away in a pavilion or convenient picnic tables overlooking the lake.
