This is one of the wetland ponds in the Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat in Boulder, Colorado. The area is a sanctuary for waterfowl, aquatic creatures, and game animals, all within a short drive of the city. Birdwatchers frequently come armed with binoculars and notepads to identify as many birds as possible. The area is great for families with kids, who can explore the evenly-graveled paths and numerous wooden viewing platforms.

Wally Toevs Pond, the first one encountered from Walden Pond Road, is named for former Boulder County Commissioner Walden Toevs, who advocated for reclaiming an old gravel mine and transforming it into the wetland we enjoy today. Next to this pond is a parking area, restroom, picnic shelter, and an ADA-accessible ramp. Driving or walking past here takes you to the rest of the ponds and more trails and wildlife viewing opportunities.
