Pocahontas State Park Campground is located in the forests of Chesterfield, Virginia. Open from March through December, the campground has over 115 sites. These sites include yurts, cabins and group or individual campsites. The amenities located directly in the campground include bathhouses with hot showers, a playground, laundry facilities and a camp store, which sells snacks, supplies and firewood.
There are many activities to enjoy at the surrounding state park including fishing, boating, swimming and over 64 miles of multi-use trails. Some highlights are top of the line mountain bike trails, a pool with multiple waterslides and three lakes for fishing and boating. One of these lakes has a public boat ramp. The park also offers various watercraft rentals including canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and paddleboats. Near the lake are volleyball courts and horseshoe pits. In addition to the many recreational activities, the park also has a large amphitheater used for large concerts and other programs. Overnight campground guests receive free pool and boat ramp access.
The campground has 114 campsites and an additional five group sites. There are sites for 40- and 65-foot RVs. The buddy sites can hold a max of 18 people. Each site has electricity and water hookups, but no sewer. Sites also include a picnic table, fire ring and lantern holder.
There are six cabins at the campground. Each cabin has two sets of bunk beds and sleeps a maximum of four people. The cabins are equipped with a table and chairs, porch, electrical outlets, ceiling fan, a picnic table and a fire ring. A water spigot is shared between every two cabins. The cabins require a two-night minimum stay.
The campground also has four yurts. All yurts have a long wrap-around deck surrounded with a dining table and four chairs. The yurt sleeps a maximum of four people with a queen and a twin pullout bed. Guests must bring their own linens or sleeping bags. Yurts do not have electricity or running water, but there is a community electrical pedestal and water spigot shared by the four yurts. Cooking and pets are not allowed inside the yurts. For cooking needs, there is a fire ring located outside of each yurt.
