Trahlyta Lake + Falls

Trahlyta Lake is the centerpiece of Vogel State Park. The area has a lot more to offer in the forms of hiking and camping, and is good year round, but most people come during summer to enjoy a dip in this cool reservoir and see the waterfall that tumbles from it.

Swimming is allowed in a designated area, and the rest of the lake is open to non-motorized boats and fishing. You can bring your own craft or rent one from the park. The swimming area is sizeable but is shallow, no more than about 4 feet deep, and it is a comparatively small portion of the 22-acre lake. Bathrooms, picnic areas, and benches are next to the beach. There is also the Trahlyta Theater, which is a large pavilion built over the lake where events are sometimes held. It is otherwise open for picnics and simply enjoying views over the lake in the shade.

Trahlyta Falls is hidden on the far end of the lake below the earthen dam. This natural waterfall is a steep series of cascades about 50 feet in height that empties into a small stream. To find it, paddle across the lake or hike the 1-mile loop of the Trahlyta Lake Trail. A short set of stairs leads to a viewing platform just in front of the falls.
