Just 7 miles south of Lincoln City, the Gleneden Beach State Recreation Site offers an expansive, sandy beach, fishing and surfing, picnic areas and public restrooms, and it’s all free. A bluff overlooks the shoreline, and on this bluff you’ll find picnic tables as well as a flat, open green space. Venturing to the beach from the bluff, you’ll be able to take a number of different paths down to the water. The area has been known to draw some surfers, and there were indeed some large wave at Gleneden during our visit. Also, just a few miles north of this beach is the seal and sea lion gathering area of the Salishan Spit, and it is not uncommon to spot these sea animals at Gleneden.

Note: The picnic shelter, which features 120V electrical outlets, can be reserved by calling 541.265.4560.

Love the Oregon Coast! It can piss rain in July, but it can also be sunny and in the 70s during November! Great time at Gleneden Beach, one of the many overlooked residential beach towns on the northern section of the coast.
