Gleneden Beach State Recreation Site

Just 7 miles south of Lincoln City, the Gleneden Beach State Recreation Site offers an expansive, sandy beach, fishing and surfing, picnic areas and public restrooms, and it’s all free. A bluff overlooks the shoreline, and on this bluff you’ll find picnic tables as well as a flat, open green space. Venturing to the beach from the bluff, you’ll be able to take a number of different paths down to the water. The area has been known to draw some surfers, and there were indeed some large wave at Gleneden during our visit. Also, just a few miles north of this beach is the seal and sea lion gathering area of the Salishan Spit, and it is not uncommon to spot these sea animals at Gleneden.
