Pack Monadnock Loop

Pack Monadnock resides in Miller State Park, which is the oldest state park in New Hampshire. The mountain stands at 2,290 feet and has several routes to the summit, including a great loop hike option utilizing the Wapack and Marion Davis trails. Both trails start at the same kiosk, so you’ll end in the same place you started. It is recommended that you ascend the Wapack Trail from the large parking area at the park entrance to save your knees, as this is the steeper and rockier of the two trails. Both trails are good for families; however, those with younger children may wish to do an out-and-back on the Marion Davis trails to avoid the most rugged terrain.

Wander the red-blazed trail that loops around the summit, eat lunch at one of the many picnic tables, and take in the view from various viewpoints. A side path leads to the Audubon Society’s Raptor Viewing Area, so if you’re up there in the fall, be sure to keep an eye out for hawks and other birds of prey. There is a drinking fountain and outhouses on the summit as well as a fire tower and interpretive signage to learn about the park's history. From the tower you can see Mount Monadnock, the White Mountains, and even Boston in the distance on a clear day. 

Although the auto road is seasonal, the hiking trails on Pack Monadnock are open all year, providing fun for the whole family in all seasons.
