Cottonwood is the first campground encountered when entering Rockport State Park. It is not on the lake, but instead has a nice location alongside the creek that feeds the reservoir. Sites are shaded and roomy, with a picnic table, grill, fire ring, and ample parking at each. There is one toilet building and three water faucets to serve the campground. Camping here is a good choice for fishing in the river and avoiding crowds if the other campgrounds are full. The marina is just a short drive away.
Note: Cottonwood Campground is open from May 1 through October 31.
