Note: Due to a lease expiration, Lake Cushman Resort has permanently closed.
Lake Cushman Resort is a good choice for those looking to spend a night or two near the south end of this 4,010-acre reservoir. At the heart of the resort lies a variety of overnight accommodations. You'll find 47 large tent sites with capacities that range between 8 and 24 people, 14 RV sites with water and 20-amp electric hookups (no on-site dump station), and 11 rustic cabins. Every cabin has electric heat, a bedroom with a double bed and linens, a double futon/sofa without linens, a kitchenette, and a private bathroom and shower. Select cabins have an extra room and/or a wood stove, and a few are situated right on the shores of Lake Cushman. Note that tent camping is open May through mid-October, while cabins and RV sites are available year round.
Restrooms and showers are located near the western RV sites; if you are camping in one of the sites that are farther away from this area, portable toilets are available throughout the campground. Guests at Lake Cushman Resort enjoy access to several amenities within the park including a large boat ramp and dock that provides direct access to the reservoir, water levels permitting. If you will be staying at the resort for a few days with your own boat, reserve a moorage for a small fee to skip the daily launch at the ramp. Alternately, rent a boat at the resort: 15-foot boats with outboards are available along with kayaks and canoes. The day use area is near the store and attached deck, and it is adjacent to the swimming area. Because this swimming area is enclosed by the dock and moorage area, it remains protected from wind and boat traffic and is an ideal place for families to enjoy the lake.
The resort is open from mid-April through the end of October, and the campground, RV, and day use areas are open from Mother's Day through the end of October.
