In the spring Charlie's Hole is a popular spot for local kayakers with the higher water flows. In the summer months it has become a draw for swimmers, body boarders, and those looking to spend time near the river.

Located outside of the Bud Werner Memorial Library on the Yampa River, Charlie's Hole is a man-made play wave that is home to spring kayak festivals and idea for sunbathers in the summer. Just be sure to watch out for tubers making their way down the river if you're stationed at the hole. Just down river you'll find a similar, but smaller D-hole

Explore more of the Yampa River on the Yampa River Core Trail that runs through Steamboat Springs. If you'd like to tube the river, rental tubing is allowed downstream from the 5th Street bridge. Private tubers are encouraged to float from Fetcher Park, leaving the upper river available for fishing.

Always be sure to pack out what you bring to the river and practice Leave No Trace
