Houda Point and Camel Rock Lookout is one of the best vantage points to view the coastline between the city of Trinidad and Moonstone Beach. With a clearly marked parking lot, it is an easy and quick place to stop and explore. The lookout area is constructed of rock, stone, and cement and is visible from the parking area. After parking, walk to the far left of the lot and you will see both the lookout area as well as the trailhead leading down to the beach.

The Trinidad Coastal Land Trust maintains the lookout and works hard to protect the natural beauty of the area. The Humboldt Surfrider Foundation and California Conservation Corps also work diligently to make sure the area is well maintained and enjoyable for all visitors. From the lookout point you may be able to spot passing humpback and grey whales as well as seals and sea lions splashing in the waves below. Coastal birds such as brown pelicans and common murres are commonly seen, and binoculars would further enhance your viewing from this great lookout point. On most days you will be able to spot surfers catching waves to the left of the lookout point, as Camel Rock is one of Humboldt's most popular surfing destinations. If you desire to venture down to the beach, be aware that you must climb a long and steep staircase to return to your car. Camel Rock itself is true to its name, looking like a camel's back protruding out of the Pacific Ocean, and it is easy to spot from the viewpoint. The beach also has limited bouldering opportunities, and at low tide it is possible to walk south to Moonstone Beach.
