Lying at nearly a 6,000-foot elevation, Grover Hot Springs State Park sits in a beautiful alpine valley south of Lake Tahoe on the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada. The park’s main attraction is its mineral hot springs, though the surrounding meadow, forest and 10,000-foot granite peaks offer much more for the visitor to explore. Remaining open throughout the year, park activities range from hiking to fishing to cross country skiing, and the option for a therapeutic hot spring soak is available whether it’s a wintry day in January or a summer evening in July. The park is also home to a pleasant campground.
In addition to the hot springs, the park contains a network of trails that explore Hot Springs Valley. Leading from the campground, the Hot Springs Trail connects to the pools, and the Transition Walk Nature Trail explores the ecosystems of the meadow. A highlight of the area is the Burnside Lake Trail, a 10-mile round trip that heads up the valley along Burside Creek toward the mountain tops. Autumn brings a spectacular quaking aspen display, which is a wonderful addition to the park's scenery.
Dogs are allowed on leash in the campground and in developed areas of the park. They are not allowed in the pool facility.
