Haviland Lake

Haviland Lake is a lovely mountain lake at 8,100 feet in the San Juan Mountains north of Durango. The lake is just a short way off highway 550, the "Million Dollar Highway." In addition to Haviland Lake Campground, visitors will find a (fee) day use area with picnic tables and a restroom. There is also a boat ramp on the south end of the lake along the access road which does not require a fee.

The lake is surrounded by mountains and meadows with wildflowers and a few local ranches. It is quite picturesque. The fishing is reputed to be good, and there is a fishing trail that goes all around the lake. Haviland Lake is about 1.5 miles long and .5 miles wide.
