Sheep Creek Campground

Sheep Creek is the westernmost campground in the quartet of campgrounds situated between the South Fork of the Kings River and Highway 180. The seasonal Sheep Creek joins the South Fork of the Kings River at the northeast corner of the campground, and good fishing opportunities are just steps away along the banks of the South Fork. All of these campgrounds are a short drive from the many trailheads that leave from Road's End, so exploring this stunning section of the park is convenient and easy. Sheep Creek is a network of seven loops laid out on the valley flooor beneath the shade of towering ponderosa pines and cedars. With 111 sites, there is no hiding the fact that this is a large facility, though the density of the sites together with the trees and the creek and river tends to mitigate that impression. Generally, the eastern loops enjoy a little more space between sites.

All of Sheep Creek's 111 sites are first-come, first-served, and early arrivals are strongly recommended in the peak season if you want the best site selection. Site lengths vary considerably, though many are large enough to accommodate RVs and trailers of moderate size. There are no hookups or dump stations in the campground, and generator hours are between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Each site comes with a picnic table, a fire ring, and food storage lockers. Potable water and restrooms are centrally located throughout the loops. Plenty of amenities such as showers, laundry, and some groceries are just a quarter of a mile away at Cedar Grove Village, and a bike path leaves from the northeast corner of the park and connects with nearby Sentinel Campground.
