Cascara Campground

Cascara Campground is one of three main access points to Fall Creek Reservoir and also the largest campground in the area.  Here you will find all of the amenities befitting a lakeside campground: a fishing dock, a boat ramp, a swimming and lawn area for shore-based use, horseshoes, and an open field for group functions.  Unfortunately, as is the case with reservoirs, fluctuating water levels can render some of these features moot; at the time of publication, for instance, the boat ramp and docks were closed because the water level was so low.  Be sure to call to check water levels before you depart.  If the boat ramp here is closed, you can still use the ramps at North Shore or Winberry State Recreation Area.

As a campground, Cascara has 39 sites arranged in two separate circles.  Many of these sites are exposed, and many are rather densely packed together.  Cascara is a great option if you are traveling with a trailer or small RV and can work without hook-ups for a few nights.  Tent campers will want to shop around for the several sites that enjoy shade and a little more privacy; they can be found more to the eastern end of the campground.  Visitors looking for group sites may want to check to see if nearby Fisherman’s Point is available.  Cascara offers potable water in addition to the standard vault toilet, picnic table, and fire pit amenities.   As is the case with many of the campgrounds in the area, Cascara offers sites on a first-come, first-served basis and is open from late April to late September.
