This shady picnic area is on the shore of Big Bear Lake and just across the street from Serrano Campground. You can walk here from the campground or park at the picnic area itself. It is open to anyone, and it is day use only. It has picnic tables and grills, restrooms, and trash service. With a convenient location and adequate amenities, Meadows Edge makes a great place to gather and spend an afternoon. There is even a small beach just through the trees where you can enjoy sunshine on the lake. To venture further from the picnic area, you can follow the Alpine Pedal Path eastward toward Juniper Point and more scenic shoreline.

Note: Fire restrictions change by the season, and open fire is not always allowed on the grills in the picnic area. Be sure to observe posted regulations. The picnic area is typically open until December 1, but it is then closed until the beginning of April to protect wintering eagle habitat. Freezing temperatures force early closure in some years. Call the Big Bear Discovery Center for current information at 909.382.2790.
