Located just inside Kings Canyon National Park at the Grant Grove entrance, Azalea Campground is ideally situated if you plan to spend some time exploring both Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park. Visitors to Azalea will be a short walk from major attractions such as the Grant Grove and the General Grant Tree, a 45-minute drive to Road's End, or a slightly longer drive into Sequoia National Park for Muir Grove, Crystal Cave, the Giant Forest and the General Sherman Tree. The campground is well-situated in terms of amenities, as you'll have easy and close access to the groceries, gas, showers, laundry, and other necessities in Grant Grove Village.
This 110-site campground is distributed among roughly four loops; in general, the highest concentration of sites is in the north section of the campground, and some of these are rather densely allocated, but good sites can be found all over. Ponderosas, cedars, and granite boulders distinguish the terrain, providing a peaceful setting even in the park's peak busy season. All sites in this campground are first-come, first-served, and an early arrival is highly recommended if you'd like the best campsite selection. RVs are welcome, though there are no hookups and there is no dump station. Generator hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Leashed pets are permitted, though not on trails in national parks. Sites have picnic tables, fire pits, and food storage boxes; you'll also have restrooms and potable water.
Azalea Campground is open year round, though sections of the campground close in the winter.
