Kitsilano Beach

Just a short jaunt from downtown Vancouver, Kitsilano Beach (called "Kits" by most) is very popular, and therefore very crowded. However, there are a variety of activities both in and out of the water which help to disperse the hoards. Windsurfing, skimboarding, and standup paddling are common among the water lovers as well as the Kitsilano Pool. Landlubbers can play volleyball, tennis, basketball, or they can take a walk, bike ride, or run along the beach. Kitsilano's got plenty of amenities including flushing toilets, concession stands, lifeguards, a swimming raft, and a restaurant. The beach itself has gorgeous views – it directly faces Burrard Inlet, and Vancouver's skyline is the main feature of the northwest view. Keep an eye out for marine life as well as shorebirds and songbirds.

Kitsilano Beach borders Hadden Park, which has an off-leash dog area so your pup can stretch its legs and jump about in the water.
